I need a program that can make a signed API call to Amazon AWS's Advertising API using an ISBN, and return the product's title, author, lowest new price, and lowest used price using the ItemLookup call. I am using a barcode scanner that appends a carriage return after each scan, and I would like the program to make the call after each scan automatically (I believe I can set the scanner to append a different character as well). The results need to be stored in a simple text format, preferably tab-delimited with the following columns: ISBN, Title, Author, Lowest New, and Lowest Used (or some approximate variations of these). Other formats that can be imported into Excel are acceptable.
I have an Amazon access ID and secret key that I can add to the source files, or to some other data file or field in the program. (You will need to obtain these keys yourself for writing and testing the program.)
The platform is virtually irrelevant, and can even be an application that runs in a browser. It will have to run on OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.8). It can be simple, just so long as it works reliably. (Scan a book's barcode, have the data displayed, and somehow stored in an accessible format).
Some sample code can be found here: [url removed, login to view], but I'm not a programmer, so don't know if that is suitable. I've also seen Java and js snippets in Amazon's documentation center as well, if the project can be done using either of those. It can even be terminal based, for simplicity's sake. It can also even be a macro for use in Microsoft Excel (2011, OSX version), but from what I've read, that seems the most difficult (for lack of appropriate libraries).

You could use Xamarin Mono.NET as the base programming. It has the ability for capturing scanner result and do access to the Amazon Product Advertising API as well.
