Joomla - Joomlisting Event changes

Job Description:
[url removed, login to view] uses a Joomla Module called Joomlisting to post For Sale ads and Event ads on their site. This module has been customized already.
My client is wanting to add to the Events section the ability to show events happening between a chosen set of dates (view would pick these dates)
At the top there would be the ability to select date #1 and date #2 via a simple calendar (for each). On submit only the events between those two dates would show up in the list below.
Example: 06/14/2013 to 08/21/2013 is chosen by the viewer so then all the events that happen on 6/14, between 6/14 & 8/21, and on 8/21 should show in the correct order with the featured listing at the top.
This listing needs to sort the same way it does today. Featured events (sorting from beginning to end of month, and also by time) dates, the non featured events (sorting from beginning to end of month, and also by time) dates.
The event date is is a custom field and it is just a text box that viewer enter in, in a correct format

This changes can ONLY effect sectionID 2 (sid[]=2)
This same Joomlisting plugin is being used to also show the For Sale pages (section ID (sid) = 1) and these changes CANNOT effect the For Sale section.

In addition I'm hoping to get someone who can look at speeding up this Joomlisting section in general. I currently have to have the php memory_limit = 9999M in the [url removed, login to view] In order to avoid errors. But I would love to knock it down to 128M.
