we have two Debian linux vps servers. Both have the same specifications, but there are some differences:
* no LVM installed
* 1 partition of 100Gb
* 1 partition of 50Gb
* running one website which uses a lot of space storing users' photos
* LVM installed
* 1 partition of 150Gb
* running a few small websites
The job is to merge these two VPS's into one. So all websites will have to run on one VPS. Given the LVM configuration I think we should keep VPS 2 and move the one website from VPS 1 to it.
That websites is a bit more complicated than average. Users can create an account which gives them their own subdomain. There is an image manager for users which has some requirements on the server.
I am looking for someone who can take care of this on his/her own. Someone who can figure things out without asking me about details.
There is no hurry for this project, please indicate which deadline you know you can meet.
Selected freelancer will get root access to both servers.
In the end the purpose is that (after moving the website and a testing period) is that I can cancel my contract for VPS 1.
Second part of this project is to create an automatic backup system on VPS 2 for all websites. This should include both the databases and uploaded user data (photos) and an easy way to restore (a documented script to start is fine). Backup of users photos will need to be external so if possible please advise a suitable not-too-expensive solution for this.
The third and final part is to check and enhance the security of the VPS. This should include creating a new user for management of websites.
