Project Description

Hi,

I have a legacy ERP software that is setup on a Windows 2008 server. I have built a web server on the same VLAN. Using XDBC and ODBC, the database is in MicroFocus format (32-bit). I need to build a prototype mobile front end (HTML5, JAVA, IOS) that i can demonstrate on an Android or Smart phone or tablet that we can extract and input data into the system.

If successful, we would want to hire you to build a production version, and we would have multiple customers who would would want custom versions.

The key on this project is to figure out HOW to get the Web server to talk to the database so you can retrieve and enter data. the GUI is pretty easy. As i said, one day it just stopped working and we can't figure out why

Notes: the systems are on 64-bit machines, but the MicroFocus database is 32-bit. The software manufacturer hasn't upgraded it yet. so we installed their 32-bit driver called AcuXDBC on the web server. The actual database is an ODBC compliant and resides on the S:\Decision directory (mapped, not local). We can see the S-drive. The XDBC driver is located on the local C-drive of the web server and it can be accessed by going to the AcuXDBC program in the start menu, clicking on the AcuXDBC folder, and the XDBC configurator. You will see that it is installed as both a System and File DSN as after the crash we couldn't get it to work either way.

Finally, we are using XAMPP as the PHP web server. If you feel more comfortable with IIS and ASP, go ahead and change the server. I want this to be easy.

1. Let's get the web server talking to the database
2. A lot of the code was written already in php for the screens you saw in the PowerPoint
3. We have a true dummy version (no XDBC, we just built a quickie Access database on ODBC on another server) if you want to see it live. Of course it's not really going to the ERP server, but you will be able to get a good idea of what we are going for.
4. Let me know if you need access to that other dummy site just to see the mockups.

Here are the docs i have to get started.

Only expert who can do this can apply.
