Project Description

We need to manage all our videos through the Magento admin panel.

There would be a “Videos” tab that shows two sub-tabs: “Manage Videos”, “Manage Video Categories”.

Videos must be manageable in multiple views, so the “Choose Store View” dropdown must be available all across. We use three store views for three languages.

Please download the word document "video custom [url removed, login to view]" attached to this project for details related to the backend.

There will be two ways to showcase videos, either individually or through video categories. We must be able to seamlessly insert them anywhere on the website through Magento blocks, either inside cms pages or static blocks or directly through .xml and .phtml files.

Individual videos

Individual videos will be scattered around our website, including the homepage and cms pages. Each video has a corresponding image. Once the user clicks on the video image, the video player pops up and the website background fades, just as it is currently on our site (visit [url removed, login to view], scroll down and click on the “See how it’s made” video image to get an idea).

Once the video pops up, you will have the title, description, links and related videos shown on the right. For reference please visit [url removed, login to view], scroll down and click on the “Back to blue” video image to get the idea.

Category videos

Category videos are exactly the same as individual videos, the only difference is that the thumbnail image is the one associated to the category and instead of showing related videos on the right it’s showing the videos that are assigned to the category. Title, description and links for each assigned video should still show on the right.

When a user clicks on a category video image, the first video assigned to the category pops up and starts playing.

General notes

Each video playing will need a Facebook Like and Twitter buttons. The important part is that the link shared through Facebook or Twitter must bring the user to the video popup with a faded background (just as it does when you manually click on a video image), instead of the webpage in which the video image is linked to. Flowplayer has a Like and Twitter feature, but it only links to the webpage where the video is located instead of to the actual video popup, as far as we know.

In essence, each video popup must have a unique URI which will be used to share the video. We have a picture gallery on our website that illustrates the idea, check out [url removed, login to view] and click on one of the galleries. The first image will pop up and the uri changes without reloading the webpage. This is how our video popups should work too.

Other notes

- Preferred player to use: Flowplayer

- Type of player: HTML5 (a must)
