Mailchimp API Expert needed to work on segmenting via API with dynamic criteria

We have implemented the Mailchimp API on one of our sites and it's so close to working, it's just misisng one thing. The site we have implemented the API on allows us to build a list from our own database, subscribe these people to an existing MC list, create a static segment and then add the people on our temp list to that segment. We also schedule a campaign for this segment. The problem we have is that currently, the code uses the "Email" field as the criteria for being added to the segment. You are only allowed to define up to 10 criteria, so as soon as we have more than 10 people on the list, it won't work and we get an error. So we need to find a way to use a different set of criteria. Please take a look at the attached screenshot of the page where we build our list. Our idea for the solution here is to add a corresponding field in the MC list for each search option on the right (e.g. Type, Book, SignTick). Then we can use these fields as the criteria. For example: If we search for Type = Leads, Type of Lead = Good, Book = Physical then that would reflect in the criteria of the segment as Type = Leads, LeadType=Good, Book = Physical. I would appreciate your advice on this, and if you think there is a better/easier way to do it then please let me know. Of course, feel free to ask me any questions as well if you need anything clarified.
