Project Description

I have a number of automated email alerts for job vacancies. These originate from a number of different job boards so are automated and each originator has a defined email structure. I want a system which extracts these from a POP3/IMAP inbox and "scrapes" information from them and inserts the data into a mysql database. Typical fields are employer/agency, location, job title, job synopsis, job URL. There may be duplicate job vacancies over a number of days so the database needs to detect duplicates. I want a back end web page to manage the resulting unique leads - process the lead / mark it as done / show as new etc. Each lead in the email will point to a URL - the software needs to follow the URL and collect more data to populate in the database eg full job description.

I am open to approach for the back end. This can be web pages or a mechanism to insert the data into a CRM system such as Zoho or Sugar where the lead management can be done - I am open to your suggestions.

The emails originate from a number of different job boards - the sender address will be unique so can be used to determine the rules for scraping the email. The job boards may have RSS feeds so alternatively you could use the alert as a trigger to use RSS search but I can't guarantee that will be the case. I can setup a dedicated POP3/Inbox to only get these emails and another emails (eg spam) can be ignored. I would like the system to be easily extensible so that new emails from new job boards can be easily added to the system.

I want this system written in php/mysql since I know these and can maintain the system. The resulting software will be installed on my server (LAMP).

You're free to define your own database schema.
