We run a pastry and coffee shop in FL, USA and is going to expand to multiple locations.
Currently we run PC America, but the system is way to advanced and also missing a lot of features we need.
I am open for suggestions but I think we need to pick one of below alternatives:
1: Based on a reliable open source POS we need to change it according to our features.
2: Based on a very experienced developer with POS systems, we might build our own system from scratch.
Regarding hardware we would like to run it on a tablet solution; Windows or IOS, depends on the developers experience and recommendations.
Would be nice with a cloud solution, but we need to be aware of a backup if internet is down, so should be able to run in a limited version without internet connection. We need to collect and push data to each and every store.
Regular POS with cash register and receipt printer, payment by cash, card or account.
There is approx. 100 items, which is pastry and coffee.
Need to be able to add in cost and sales price, discounts, and discounts on base of royalty cards/members.
What is extra compared to regular POS;
We need a production plan every morning, based on each pastry product, printed in Letter size on a production plan sheet (we currently make this in Excel). And we need to be able to add in the following production of the day, so at end of day we know how many of each unit that have been made.
As all pastries are premade and is on stock in the freezer as an ordinary stock, we don’t need to break down the units in raw material, just ordinary stock count.
Each day we also need to record the waist (what we don’t sell at the end of the day) and samples (what we hand over to customers for tasting).
When there is incoming items to the freezer, we need to be able to add in the incoming inventory.
Incoming orders from online shop have to be added to the system, either by full integration in cloud or by API.

As a franchisor we need to collect and compare the data from each shop, and need to be able to change prices and items for each shop individually or simultaneously.
Also need to have an easy way to add in new products to all shops, or remove/deactivate for all shops, without having to enter/login as each of every shop.
Currently we only have one shop, so these shop function just need to be prepared for, you don’t need to calculate those in the offer now, will be as a feature to be added in begin of 2014.
