We have an e-commerce site hosted on a .[login to view URL] domain, which relies on perl scripts to do some important things. We want to move the whole site to our corresponding .com domain ( which I can do easily ... that's not the problem ! ). We have a number of referring companies who use? links into our e-commerce site which point to a perl script which ensures they get their commission on referred sales. What we need is a perl script which will parse the incoming link ( something like? [login to view URL]? ) and simply replace ".[login to view URL]" with ".com" then? redirect the user's browser there. All of the parameters like "SOURCE=TEST" have to remain intact in the new URL. ## Deliverables I'll need to understand exactly how this works ( lots of comments in the code are essential ) and will need the coder to also show me how to parse any other part of the incoming URL ... for instance later parts of the string include hex equivalents of non-standard characters ( like %2e instead of a dot ). As well as changing the TLD part of the URL, there are also other references later in the string that need amending. The FULL incoming URL looks something like this ... the bits that might need amending are in **bold red** : http://www.testsite.**[login to view URL]**/cgi-bin/[login to view URL]**co%2euk**%2facatalog%2f ... so the new perl script will be named exactly the same as the original script ( in this case [login to view URL] ) and will overlay the original on the original domain. The new script will then redirect the user to the new domain : http://www.testsite.**com**/cgi-bin/[login to view URL]**com**%2facatalog%2f NOTE that this is a generic example, SOURCE= will have different text according to the referring user, so the coder's script must take the WHOLE incoming URL and only change the bits in red ! The final code will be difficult to check using the 'live' e-commerce site, so I will set up dummy shops on different domains for testing purposes if this is required? ... that's why it is important I fully understand the code so I can amend it when we're ready to set it 'live'.
