Project Description

I have an existing, functional website, [url removed, login to view], that I just launched last month. The site is intended to allow runners from cities throughout the country to plan, organize, and find group runs and/or races. From the homepage, users can click on their respective city, from there they can view all the runs happening in their area or post a run themselves to share. All runs are open, public invitations to connect and run (think meetup.com- but exclusively for running, and with a more localized focus). As the site gains exposure, I will look to monetize it by requiring race organizers to pay if they are posting races that cost money.

Currently, users can post a run, but with two major inconveniences: they cannot post an event that is recurring and they cannot edit their event after they post it. Right now, all of the information from the post form enters straight into the MySQL database, but users have no way to make their run recurring (example: Joe's Running Club has a group run every Saturday at 8:00 am and only wants to post once) or edit/delete their event after posting it initially. I don't want to require user accounts/login to use the site, but there should be some way for users to edit their event after posting it: I'm thinking maybe they could automatically receive an email when posting that provides a link for them to edit the page they posted. Ideally, I would like to keep the rest of the site as unaltered as possible. The site is all custom coded in PHP but the post page is in Python - this can be changed, I don't care what language it is in. The calendar on the post page is JavaScript- it submits in the YYYY-MM-DD format that MySQL requires.

Please view the site, [url removed, login to view], and explore the post page with the needs I have stated in mind.
