I would like to have my web site -- [[url removed, login to view]] -- ported to Google App Engine. I implemented the current site using Django and MySQL. Since Google's App Engine doesn't use SQL, the easiest way to port the site would seem to be using [Django-nonrel] .
The current web app has 1503 lines of Python code. The model file (~300 lines of code) has 15 top level classes. The main data for the site is stored 5 tables: "term", "cluster", "definition", "user_def", and "web_def". Each term has many clusters, and each cluster has many definitions. Each definition was either submitted by a user of the site, or it was scraped from the web. When porting this structure to Google App Engine, it will presumably be necessary for you to store the data from these 5 tables in a single table in Google's database; otherwise joins would be needed, which are not possible or at least not straightforward on Google App Engine. Along with your bid, please specify whether this makes sense to you.
I will provide the winning bidder with a copy of all files used the implement the current site, as well as a MySQL dump of the database. I would also provide access to a Google App Engine instance.
I would consider the project to be completed when the functionality of the ported site matches that of the original site. However, if there are some functions of the site that are non-essential and are difficult to port over, then let me know before bidding and I'll revise the project spec to omit these functions. I'm sensitive to cost, and willing to give up some existing features if that makes the site easier to port.
If all goes well, I would be interested in hiring the coder completing this to implement several new additional features.
