Project Description

I run a daycare center. We are open 11 hours per day. Our staff is coming and going at different times. We need to ensure proper staff ratios at all times, while attempting to schedule people not more than 40 hrs per week. We also have to accomodate our staff's personal schedules. Therefore, requests like "can I be off at 4pm next tuesday, and I'm going on vacation next week" are all things we have to plan for. Our daycare rooms are open at different times, so that is a piece to the puzzle as well.

So....I'm hoping for this to be online, but it can be a desktop application as well, or even excel. I really dont care as long as it works.

First Screen/Page:

Administrative tool to add/remove staff, their default availability, their normal room assignment, target hours/wk, and their qualifications.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second Screen/Page

Administrative tool for opening/closing times of rooms. Each room can either be closed (0), require 1 teacher, or require 2 teachers. So on each quarter hour it should have a drop down menu (which defaults from the prior week). If one person is required, they must be the qualified teacher. If two are required one must be the appropriately qualified teacher (Inf/Toddler or Preschool) while the second staff member can be anything.

Room 1 (Inf/Todder,Preschool): 7am (0,1,2) 7:15 (0,1,2) 7:30 (0,1,2) 7:45......

Room 2 (Inf/Todder,Preschool): 7am (0,1,2) 7:15 (0,1,2) 7:30 (0,1,2) 7:45......

Room 3 (Inf/Todder,Preschool): 7am (0,1,2) 7:15 (0,1,2) 7:30 (0,1,2) 7:45......

Third Screen Screen/Page:

-A list of all staff members where an administrator can click on the hours the staff member is available (default is preloaded) and enter their room assignments/qualifications.

The computer then builds a schedule for the staff based on a few rules:

1. The default staff person gets priority for the room, if default person is unavailable must pick a qualified available alternative

2. Each staff need a break (1/2 hr or 1hr) which must be covered by another equally or more qualified person

3. Tries to minimize overtime

Output:

The staff schedule. Printable
