13225 Mysql database script upgrade

Hello, This should be an easy task for the right person. I could probably work it out if I had the time but unfortunately got kids etc..!! I am trying to upload a Mysql database [url removed, login to view] to a new Mysql host which supports Mysql v [url removed, login to view] When I try to upload the database which is not a heavy file, I get the error message: #1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near bid int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, It is likely that there is an icompatibility and some kind of script upgrading is necessary. Will give you my new host database access etc. I found this info on the help pages of my exhost. Posted by Christian Roy on April 27 2006 10:47pm [Delete] [Edit] Because MySQL as reserved words, make sure you dump your tables with: -Q, --quote-names Quote table and column names with backticks (). Otherwise, it will complain about invalid SQL if any of your tables contains reserved words when it's time to import your data back to the new version. The exact error you will get is : "ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 123: You have an error in your SQL syntax check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '..." This mysqldump option is NOT enabled by default in 4.0 so you have to specify it by hand. Here's what I used: (sorry can't use html code here but ask me if you need this info and I will email it) Upgrading from MySQL 3.23 to 4.0 In general, you should do the following when upgrading from MySQL 3.23 to 4.0: Check the items in the change list found later in this section to see whether any of them might affect your applications. Note particularly any that are marked Incompatible change these result in incompatibilities with earlier versions of MySQL. Read the 4.0 changelog to see what significant new features you can use in 4.0. See Section D.2, “Changes in release 4.0.x (Recent still supported)”. If you are running MySQL Server on Windows, see Section [url removed, login to view], “Upgrading MySQL on Windows”. There is more but I will email it if you are interested Thank you for your time DMF
