Project Description

I repost this project without Twitter-integration, as the previous bids were over my project limit.

Whats needed is a custom wordpress installation where loged in Facebook users can place content on a Google Map.

The primary use for this, is a map where Norwegian freelance journalists can place which area they cover, and also state their name and contact information. But the wordpress installation have to be made so that I can easily make new maps for new purposes.

The front page of the blog should contain the title of the entry, and a smaller version of the map of that entry. The entry should containt the title, any content text and the map.

People wanting to place content on a map, has to log in using their facebook account, and the profile photo and information from their facebook should also be placed on the map together with their content.

Wordpress: The project must be done on a wordpress 2.8 installation, where I can use the template system to style the project using the standard template and css system.

When I create a new entry on the blog, the entry will contain a title and all other normal atributes of a wordpress entry, such as content text, tags, comments and so forth.

Google Maps: In addition to the standard wordpress attributes, I should be able to assign a Google map to a particular entry. The map will be unique for that entry, but it should be possible to mash together two maps from two different entries thus creating a third map with the contents from both entries.

When creating an entry with a map, I must be able to set the map zoom/view (controlling which area to display, and if it should be viewed as a map, satelite image, setting controls etc).

I should be able to decide for each map if it should be editable only by me, or also by visitors to the blog signed in with their facebook account.

Submitted information should be displayed as a two-tabbed info-window:

1st tab: the info the user submitted, both image (if applied), text and html should be allowed.

2nd tab: the avatar and name from Facebook of the user who submitted the tab, and a link to their facebook account.

The maps must be searchable from within the installation.

The maps should contain a handy distance measuring tape.

It should be possible the straight line distance and bearing direction between two points.

It must be possible to sort information by distance from a reference point.

Only a certain (adjustable) amount of markers should be shown. This allows large numbers of markers to be managed efficiently, providing that only a modest number of markers are ever visible in the viewport at once.

Facebook: Users should be able to log in to post information on the map using Facebook Connect. Their Facebook details need to be placed on the map together with the information they post, thus identifying the poster.
