Project Description

I am looking for a development team to create a CMS-based interactive supplementary learning web and mobile app to help students master the fundamentals of math. The program is based on an underlying principle of repetition, as students are encouraged to log into the site every day and complete a problem-set based on their current level. The problem-sets are of varying difficulty, ranging from simple one-digit addition to long division to multivariable systems of equations. The program will ultimately help students learn and master addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra.

The web programmer would develop the front- and back-end of the web app so that the problem sets are a random generation of numbers that are plugged into the general problem-set format. For example, the simplest problem-set would include 30 questions in the form of:

____ + ____ = ____ ,

where the first two blanks are numbers that the program would generate based on the numbers 1 through 10. This is referred to as the “problem generation feature.”

Accuracy and speed are the determining factors for a student to move on to the next level of difficulty. They must complete a certain number of problem-sets with a certain level of accuracy, and in within a set number of minutes. Progress is not affected by the frequency that users log in.

In addition to the problem-generation feature of the web application, there must also be a timer and grading mechanism. Upon completing a problem-set, the student needs a summary of their time (and a comparison to their previous average time) and the number of problems answered correctly. Then the ones that were answered incorrectly are shown again, giving the student the opportunity to correct their mistakes.

Progress in the program must be recorded and available for the student to view, and a social feature (potentially via Facebook), will allow students to compare their progress with their peers.

In order to keep students in the routine of logging in and completing the problem-set, they can choose from a set of automatic daily reminder options – text messages, email, or Facebook messages – which will be sent to the user at the same time every day.

The last feature I'll need is for students/parents to make payments, as the service is provided on a monthly or annual subscription basis.
