EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: We need an easy to use, easy to navigate and edit Access 2007 Database (or something compatible) created to keep track of donors, donations and the prisoners (if applicable) they are sent in support of. We also need to track inventory we offer as thank you gifts (consisting of hundreds of book entries). We need this info to be easily merged into MS Word documents without a lot of query codes I need to be instructed in how to use it if necessary. You will create the database and easy to use query codes in an easy to use format you can explain to me how to use.
OPERATIONS OVERVIEW: Promise Ministries International is a Michigan based, Christian non-profit Bible college level ministry to American prisoners supported by the tithes and offerings of those who believe in what we are doing. Our student applicants provide us with names and address of friends and relatives that we contact through 4 or more different fundraising letters we send in a series. Each letter we send has the prisoner's name and a FREE book offer with each donation which we need to track when sent. We want to track these letters and dates sent to donors along with any free books we send to either the donor or prisoner in response to the letter.
When money arrives, it is usually (not always) designated for a particular prisoner and is to be used to provide that student with any of the following: enrollment into or payment for one of our 5 separate Bible study programs (we are developing more); or they are purchasing a particular Bible or book (we have hundreds); or to pay for a degree; or any other miscellaneous purpose. We need to be able to quickly edit these.

WHAT I NEED: I need queries created to export specific data from the database to be used in an MS Word mail merge:
When the mail merge is executed, I want to pick a donor from the database, and a date. The query will give me all the donors' details (name, address, etc) and calculate the total donations made by the donor. I would like those totals to be separated into daily, weekly, monthly and yearly donations totals, based on the date I selected at the start.

We also send 12 separate thank you receipts to donors that we often edit. We need to track these [we use a code for them] with dates we sent them to the donor along with any books or literature we sent as a thank you gift to them.
I also want to be able to print mailing labels or envelopes and/or lists of selected donors, gift dates, gift amounts, prisoner names, groups, etc from MS word
