The website is a large online catalog, built around a Joomla 1.5 CMS, using php and mySQL database. Using various third party extensions such as Virtuemart, CSVI Advanced, sh404SEF, and others, the online catalog is a large scale collection of machinery parts, allowing users to not only purchase, but also view individual pages. A cross between Wikipedia (very informative and easy to find) and [url removed, login to view] (very easy to purchase).
A strong CSV upload is key as hundreds of thousands of parts will be added by various team members, so the site needs to be scalable and as easy as possible to add new pages.
Currently, the site is built in Joomla 1.5, using Virtuemart as the main cataloging and cart system, with SiteLinx URL tracking, sh404SEF using apache rewrite to generate SEO-friendly pages, and CSVI advanced (although not 100% finalized) as the CSV import component. The site is fully functional, however, looking to simplify the process.
The current system being used for CSV import into Virtuemart is CSVI Improved. The fields can be configured as they wish through the component control panel in the backend. There is no useable CSV file yet since, but I would imagine the add-to-cart buttons and everyting else needs to be finalized before a CSV template can be generated.
We need to create a CSV file that will allow for one unique product page but allow multiple “add to cart” buttons for different vendors of the product similar to the example below.
