Lavel Validation

ITL currently create data labels for finished and tested products. These labels will have datamatrix codes added, so that they can be scanned prior to shipping to confirm that the product has been correctly labelled.

The data on the labels, and held by the labelling software (LabelView 8.5 by TekLynx), is manually entered on creation of the labels. On scanning, this data will then be compared with the data held for that product in the SQL database

Some products have two labels; one attached to the product and the other to be shipped with the product. In this case, both labels must be scanned and the data on both must match the product data from SQL database.

A software system is required to carry out two tasks in relation to the labels:

1. Label Data Validation

2. Record Date & Time of Scan

Label Data Validation

The primary tasks here are to:

1. Retrieve the label data, from a SQL query, compare them and report any error.

2. In cases where there are two labels, delay data validation until the second label is scanned.

Where possible, this functionality will be designed such that the operator is as independent of the computer keyboard as possible while scanning products from the same and different orders, thus increasing the potential for speed and flexibility of the barcode scanners (particularly so for the wireless scanners).

Record Date & Time of Scan

The primary tasks here are to:

1. Record date and time of label scan with “Pass” or “Fail” remark.

2. There should be a way to notify the user that a previous “Pass” for this label has been recorded to prevent duplication.

3. Reporting of any missed labels to be possible.

Where possible, this functionality will be designed such that the operator is as independent of the computer keyboard as possible while scanning products from the same and different orders, thus increasing the potential for speed and flexibility of the barcode scanners (particularly so for the wireless scanners).

Ideally the software will be required to work within an internet explorer type browser but may be usable in Exel 2003+

Infrastructure: Windows SBS 2008 enterprise edition.
