Project Description

1. Understand the specification (Estimated effort = 4 hours)

2. Create a database (to spec) (Estimated effort = 1 hours)

3. Write access programme (to spec) (Estimated effort = 60 hours)

4. Create a Windows7/Windows8 installer (Estimated effort = 3 hours)

5. Test Functionality and modify as appropriate (Estimated effort = 10 hours)

6. Hand over source (Estimated effort = 2 hours)

Total Time Estimate = 80 man hours

All for the following system:

1.1 an SQL Express based data store (or alternate may need to discuss)

1.2 agreed set of structured hierarchal folders used to storing media files, and config files as required

2. Operating System Supported: (Estimated effort = not applicable)

Windows OS7 and OS8 (but will consider alternative e.g. Android, Linux, Apple IOS or Apple OSX

3. Software Functionality:

3.1 Write 8 or 9 fields to 'Scores' table in the SQL database (i.e. player name, ID, picture path, game ID, Date, Time, serial number)

- take a date/time stamped photograph of player and place it in designated media file

- create a thumbnail of the picture

- collect the player's name in a pop up form designed for touch screen to appear on the OS primary screen 1

3.2 takes specific data from the 'Scores' table, gets media folder and player thumbnail graphic, populates to form:

- form to be able to be located by client on screen 1 or extended desktop screen 2

- has a backdrop graphic 'slide show' driven by files in a specific folder and a video media frame

- said form to show a range of daily high player high scores with the player thumbnail next to their name and score

3.3 manages a thread that pops up a secondary form on receipt of new player data (populated from an external source to the SQL database)

(The purpose is as quick visual comparison against existing high scores)

- on screen 2 (if extended desktop is active) screen 1 if it is not

- this form to show player achievement and prize level achieved.

--- NOTE: must build a small system to generate simulated data so system functionality can be demonstrated

3.4 compares incoming 'Scores' to 'Awards'

- this means that a lookup from the 'Awards' table will be made from player data held in the Score Table

--- a simple administrative screen needs to be created to allow editing of the Awards

3.5 a button in Form 1 to allow the operator's touch to open a third form showing:

- data from the 'Awards' table in a list format

- full screen (screen 1) covering other forms

- this form will feature a backdrop graphic slideshow (looking at a different folder to the set described above) and a video media frame

The system will be built as English as the primary language, but a language database will also be required so that every English literal used in the system will also be able to use a different language column. The ability to switch between language should be as close to dynamic as possible. New languages will will be added from time to time by simply selecting the column offset. Therefore this table will be structured as (Unique ID, English Phrase, Arabic Phrase, French Phrase, Spanish Phrase, Chinese Phrase, etc. )
