Hi coders, I need to have a "live" Linux distro to work as NAS server. The distro should be small enough to boot from USB Flash Drive or CompactFlash (CF-IDE Adapter can be used for this), e.g. from 16MB to 128MB. The idea is similar to what is found in [url removed, login to view], which is based on m0n0wall, but with few additional functions. The needed functions (i.e. services that are provided to the network where this NAS server is attached) are: - Samba/CIFS (to work as PDC with shares) - HTTP - FTP - Hardware/Software RIAD support - User/Quota support (not in freeNAS) - ACL (Access Control List) (not in freeNAS) In addition to FreeNAS, all these functions are also found in SME Server ([url removed, login to view]). It would be easy if someone can take SME Server, remove all unwanted modules (except i-bay), and make it small enough to be "burn" on CF/Flash drives. NOTE 1: Due to limited number of write cycles that a flash memory can take (~300k), the distro must create a ram disk or similar to write temp data to. Only configurations and data that need to be maintained between boots should be written to the flash memory. NOTE 2: bidders must agree to pay "Seller Guarantee Deposit" to show seriousness.
