Project Description

We have an existing application that allows us to search our database very fast, even if there are spelling mistakes. Its is a Fuzzy search with soundex etc. However it is dos based and we have lost the source code. We wrote it about 10 years ago!

Name address postcode phone number.

When the customer rings up the operator asks the customer for some data to find thier account. I.e. name and phone number. They just type that into the search box. i.e. Richard Harvey 123456670 and the system will find it in the database. It also shows the next best matches in a scroll box, upto 20 at a time.

We used a principal of taking all the search fields from the main table and then sotreing them in a binary string in another table. With the index key. The search system then only has to look at one field per record, this speeds the system up.

The developer will supply a program that takes the data from the main table and then inserts it in the search table. This will run on a scheduled task in windows once every 24 hours.

You will then provide a sample app. The required performance will be less than 2 seconds to find a record in a table with 300k rows.
