Web visitor selects directory on local machine

I need an application that can be embedded into a webpage where a visitor can view a screen showing the local directories on their computer, make a selection of various folders and then proceed to the next page.

The application will then create a string of the paths to these selected directories. The string can be delimited by any unused character.

The string then needs to be postable back to the website for database storage. A local text file will need to be duplicated that the application will read on reload to display the previously selected directories when the function gets called again in future visits.

An example of what I’m looking for is on the Trend Micro online scanning site at <[url removed, login to view]> which prompts to allow it to download a .cab file into your system which I imagine will be what reads the system detail. This is a little different though in the respect that it uses the input and runs on that same page.

All I want to do is create a single string or multiple strings with the path/s to the folders the visitor has selected.

I have attached a sample Directory Info project that i found by Googling. It is a basic display of system information and would need to be modified to include selectable boxes but may be a kick start for the project.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

4) The application must be provided in a basic web page in a FULLY operational condition and is to be available for testing remotely. Can be stored on the developers server.

**Important Points:

**[url removed, login to view] app needs to call the previously saved data if available and display the folder tree with previous selections in place.

[url removed, login to view] needs be embeddable into a webpage. The web scripting will be in PHP on a Red Hat/Apache server.

[url removed, login to view] string of selected directories is available as a text file stored locally and also postable back to the site.

4. I want the application to be visually pleasing. Something similar to the Trend Micro example.

5. The project needs to include operation instruction that someone (me) with no VB or .NET knowledge, can understand.

**Addition to Original:**

6. I need the string/text file output to include an accumulated total size in kb of all the contents of the selected directories.

The site flow from the website point of view for this application would be:

1. Visitor opens page with the windows folders view script attached.

2. If they are a returning customer we’ll call the stored directory info and display it for them.

3. They would either create new selections or alter the existing selections

4. When they are happy with their selections they choose to continue.

5. The script then generates a string with the folder paths and makes it available on the server either as a variable that we can capture using PHP or as a text file that can be parsed.

Hi,

I have added an extra requirement to the original submission. It is headed with 'Addition to Original' in the deliverables section.

Please note this and review your quote if necessary.

Thanks,

John
