Objective: Develop mobile applications and online tools that reinforce and extend skill development within the Boot Camp/Family Foundations Intervention.

Technical Components to Be Developed:

1. Overall site architecture and user interface design. It is anticipated that the Internet will serve as the platform through which all content is configured, hosted, and deployed.

2. Platform – The platform will be the backbone and primary portal for interactive tool deployment. Participants will access and configure tools through this portal, creating an account for a family that has sub-accounts for husband and wife. The portal will allow access to content described below; subset of content to be accessed through mobile devices. User usage will be tracked and available to investigators by account and as summary. The platform will support:

a. SMS and Smartphone mobile applications, some of which will be customizable (e.g., content or timing of text messages) to some extent by the user. Some messages will have web-links to b or c below. Some messages will be triggered by progress on b. User will be able to manage through portal whether messages go to SMS, smartphone, or email accounts; and perhaps frequency of messages. Initially developed with two applications, for example:

i. Stress management: When user sends a certain text msg (e.g. HELP, MAD, STRESSED, ARGUMENT), system responds by sending a sequence of brief text and video segments (e.g. 30 sec to 1 min); could be links to youtube channel for smartphone.

ii. System sends text querying user at set time of day on set days (customizable by user) about stress level; user text response initiates further system messages.

b. Online pages with text/pictures, and series of short, online videos (perhaps through private youtube channel or hosted on platform?) Mechanism to upload and add these as developed by investigators.

c. Online, video versions of existing class programs:

i. For example, adapting DVD version of an educational program for couples: Chopping up current 11-module program (30-40 min/module), into 20 to 30 shorter modules. Host those in a framework that allows sequential viewing, tracking progress to return on next viewing; send reminder emails when no activity for a week or more; incorporating written exercises as online forms that can be filled out, saved in an account, or printed.

ii. 4-6 modules of a second program, 30 min./module. Program needs to be filmed and edited.
