The Youth Employment Network (YEN) is an inter-agency partnership of the United Nations, the International Labour Organization, and the World Bank that was set up after the Millennium Summit in 2001 to find new and durable solutions to the youth employment challenge. Our website, the YEN Marketplace, targets organizations working on youth employment and young entrepreneurs. It is an online space where stakeholders can find and exchange resources, ideas, and partnership.
YEN launched the Marketplace in April 2012. In the past year, we have developed our membership and launched our online programs. During this initial period, we have identified several areas of improvement where we would like to make changes to the layout and function of certain pages. In addition, there are often small modifications and problems that need to be addressed on a consistent basis. The team who developed the website is part of a larger company that has now moved on to other projects and is unable to meet our current needs in an efficient manner.
We are therefore seeking a consultant to implement the required changes and provide timely part-time support for modifications or issues that come. The first contract would cover the initial changes required, and a second contract would be for ongoing support provided that we are satisfied with the consultant’s completion of the first contract.
In order to considered, applicants must:
• submit a complete proposal with the components outlined in the attached Terms of Reference.
• have at least 3 years working experience in front-end web development using Drupal and have done at least one project using Drupal 7.
• Have some knowledge of basic back-end development and be able to troubleshoot day-to-day issues.
• have expertise in HTML, PHP, CSS, and MySQL.
• be fluent in English
We expect to select a candidate in early May to start in mid-May. The consultant will be expected to work remotely and independently, with regular online meetings with the YEN team to coordinate tasks. The successful completion of this contract would likely lead to a subsequent contract for ongoing support, but the second contract is not guaranteed.
