Currently, there is a 20 year old game, Sega NHL 94, that has a large online following with 100's of users that play online together. The players use a Genesis emulator to play the game, and connect via various net play options. After the game, the statistics of the game can be saved in a data file, and available for uploading. There already exists a forum & main site, but I'm looking to create a secondary site that enables players to hold tournaments, save records, and other neat options. The game is free to play, and is just a collection of guys who enjoy playing the game from all over the world.
I am one of those players and have some knowledge of computers & websites, but not enough to set up a site that can do the following:
Create a user sign in that enables logging of all their stats, win/loss records, tournament records, etc.
Create game uploads for head to head games from the saved data file created by the users.
Have several linked pages that show the users data in a standings, rankings by individual games stats, and tournament history.
There exists a player data base for all the in game players skills, ratings, etc and I would want those to be able to be displayed in a sort/ranking/display page as well.
Those are extremely easy, basic things, imo, and stuff I probably could copy from some of the other various league sites that are out there. However, I would also want the following:
Create tournament options. Upon a page being created that starts a tournament, slots open up for players to sign up into, and put their teams. Winners advance, and the game needs to be uploaded from the save state with the results, similar to any playoff format in most sports, and the losing team is removed from the tournament, and the winning team advances to the next round. I do not know what kind of limitations creating multiple tournaments creates, but I would want to potentially expand this option further based on price & technical difficulty. I would also like to have tournament options to be available like best of 3, best of 5, best of 7 or straight advancing.
The main site is [url removed, login to view], along with [url removed, login to view] which displays one of the leagues that run twice a year. It enables standings, playoffs to be created at the end of the season, and a league schedule with team selection as well as the game upload under a team's schedule.
