Project Description

We are looking for a website-layout, including a logo (content will be filled by us). Preferable content manager is Joomla.

The website must be easy and self explaining to navigate yet look professional and pleasing to the eye. Because of this, the graphic and layout design part of the website is more important than the technology behind it. Usability to new computer users while looking professional is key!

The website is to use a content manager like Joomla, however it must be designed so that it's not obvious that a content manager is used. A general or basic stylesheet for the content manager will NOT do.

Technical requirements:

--The biggest part of the website will contain the handbooks. This must be easily navigable so that people can see where they are in the handbooks, which subjects are following etc. It also must be search-able. Remember newbie friendliness and easy navigation is key!

--Users at all times must be able to go to the help section of the website (FAQ or message-board) with clearly visible links or buttons so that help is easily found. If a user is in the Applications area for the GIMP program, the help button must be able to take them to the GIMP forum part.

--Any added content by you must be translatable in Dutch.
--phpBB2 message board, must look well included into the web page.
--Text size changeable from normal to BIG, without breaking the layout. Preferably with one button click on the page.
--we must be able to incorporate extra modules into the page without breaking the layout.

About the logo:

The logo must display something which makes it obvious that this website is about helping people new to Linux or even to computers itself, including senior citizens. It must incorporate the text, "Linux voor beginners". While looking friendly it must still be looking professional. Preferably the logo should be located on the top left of the website, but may be large enough to cover the complete top if this enhances the friendly and professional look of the design. The logo must fit well into the overall web page design.

In closing:
Before you start the actual work we would like to see an example or sketch of the page and the logo so we can see if it is to our liking, also a link to a webpage or two you have designed would be favourable so we can see how the pages you design turn out.

When the sketch/example is to our liking we will give you the menu items names that have to be visible at the main page (for layout purposes).

If things turn out as we want, we might hire you again to change other parts of the website to our liking (change modules, write new modules, update graphics, etc).
