Simple utility required to process mailing lists.
The software will read a vanilla text file of addresses (comma delimited, tab delimited), and will look for a UK postcode on the first record. UK postcodes are always in certain formats which I can advise of. When it finds a postcode it will then search an attached table for a relevant five digit code which relates to the postcode, and apply this five digit code to a field on th record that the postacode came from.
It will then cycle through each record doing the same thing in turn to each record until it reaches the end of the mailing list.
When complete the next stage is to sort by the new codes it has applied. If there are greater than a certain amount, the code is left alone, if less than a certain amount, it will truncate the code to three digits. It will also sequentially number them.
The last stage is producing a report which is just a simple count of the number of five digit and three digit codes, and using this count along with a few variables entered by the user and a predetermined formula to calculate a few figures.
I currently have a procedure written within MSAccess that does this for me, but I would like a standalone application to do the same. You're welcome to see my original coding to see how I've done (which is far from tidy or efficient I'm sure).

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
It would be required mainly for WindowsXP, but equally it would be useful to have the same progrm working on Macs, OSX and 'nix. Windows though is the priority.
