Resolving a permissions issue with Plesk and Elgg

I am trying to install Elgg into my mediatemple environment, which uses Plesk as the control panel.

the Elgg website requires a data directory be set up outside of the HTTPDOCS directory. for some reason I an unable to establish permissions in Plesk to allow the website to write files to this folder. I have tried the open_basdir command in the conf folder to no avail.

I am looking for someone with experience in this to resolve this issue for me.

## Deliverables

As per above, the website needs to have permissions to write to the data folder which sits outside the http folder.

Success criteria is to be able to write files to this folder through the website, and retrieve them again. We will test this for a number of users.

The winning bidder will also be kept on file for any additional work the website requires, so experience with Elgg and php will be an added bonus.
