Our project is a portal web site for a regional municipality. The site is based on Mambo CMS 4.5.2, & PHP on a 2003 Server with Apapche and MySQL. Our site has been started, but the current programmer is unable to integrate the features we require adequately. The site is basically half-finished. Thus we require qualified bidders to have an expert understanding of Mambo and be able to offer a minimum of four (4) completed, operational Mambo customization sites.

The chosen programmer or group will excel in PHP programming, MySQL database design, Mambo integration, CSS and CSS-based template design, and have working capabilities with FLASH and Photoshop.

SITE OUTLINE SUMMARY – Our site will focus on two major functionalities simultaneously. The first is content. The second is management of users, and e-commerce technology integration.


NEWS – Information about the site and it’s members that changes daily.

MEMBERSHIP –The Members’ Section will be a directory of businesses that join the site and pay a monthly fee. Member mini-sections will offer a brief description of the Member business, include photos, their logo, hours of operations, products or menu pages, reviews of the business, links to the event calendar, visitor feedback options, and more.

CALENDAR –Currently no existing Mambo calendar offers an “event venue table”, where individuals entering events are required to select the “venue” where an event will occur, from a pre-existing table.

GALLERIES –Our monthly print publication has over 37,000 photos to post on this site, all of which we would like to make available for purchase and instant download.

COMPASS – This section will be for travel, tourism, relocation and real-estate.

FEATURES – This section will be for online-only editorial features, Discussion Forums, Online Classifies, etc.

ICON – This section is for our monthly newspaper component, and will include PDF copies of each issue.

INSIDERS – This section will be dedicated to a group of registered users with authoring permission, and may add or edit site content according to their permission level. Insiders would be akin to writers, dining reviewers, editors, forum moderators, etc.

RESOURCES – This section would be for expanded links.

FAQ – This section will be primarily editorial content.

CONTACT US – See attached file.

“KEYWORD” SEARCH – This feature (not a section) will be a modification of the search tool.

FAXING CAPABILITES – We would like a form that parses the information and then faxes a hard-copy to a pre-defined local fax number.



USER REGISTRATION – we would like additional fields to capture information about the user who is registering, and a graphical secure-registration method.

INSIDER APPLICATION – This feature would be the equivalent of an online resume form.

MEMBER MANAGEMENT – This feature would allow administrators to create and manage a member, and initially populate those pages with information.

E-COMMERCE – This feature would be the revenue management and tracking portion of the site. » Membership dues » Image Gallery purchases » Product & Merchandise purchases » Site features & Services purchases » Gift-Certificate purchase and generation tool.
