I operate an accounting practice that is looking to begin automating basic bookkeeping needs. I'm in need of a programmer or program team to construct a program that would automatically download (with prior consent) a client's banking information from various banking sites, for ex. chase, HSBC, and etc. and formulate to a certain format that can be imported into my Accounting program used. Most banks use the same or similar file formats that QuickBooks use, such as XML, OFX, OFC, QIF, and QFX formats. The program would sort this information via credits, debits and etc. based on the transaction type. Then in the program I would have a chart of account set up per client that on each transaction I can quickly choose the account the transaction effects. Once the transactions are coded by account I then need the program to export the information in a specific excel like file for my program to import.
The programmer will work closely with me on features and testing if anything and I am very good with following up and assisting with help and explaining what is needed to get the project done.
Program with a list of clients to be created manually by the user with certain basic information they provide, such as clientid, name, tax-id, etc
Program has to be able to download from clients banking site (can be a later feature) or be able to import the XML, OFX, OFC, QIF, and QFX formats
Has to put in order the information obtained with descriptions of debit/credit entry
Allow addition or modification of description on certain entrees (for ex cleared checks)
Allow each entry to be assigned an numerical or character account taken from a Chart of Account list created or imported(via Excel file) by the user
Allow the export of the information for that month to a specific file format in excel specially formatted which will be provided later.
Essentially for now the program would be done on a PC Environment language as mobile software is not needed for this project.
