Project Description

I am trying to find my DREAM programmer: hope you are the one! In a perfect world, you'll BLOW MY MIND on this job and become my go-to guru for future projects :)

If selected, the first project you'll be working on is in the price comparison niche, specifically related to textbooks. Here's a GORGEOUS example: Here's a more DATA HEAVY example:

I like modular development where we don't try to have every feature at once. Here's how this project is a lot simpler than it appears on the surface:

(1) 2 aggreator APIs - Instead of collecting 30-40 individual merchant data feeds and APIs, we have 2 that do the job for us. In programmer speak, the APIs are implemented via an HTTP GET request in a standard REST format with results returned in XML format. For an example of it in action, it's being used on

(2) 2 Source Code GitHubs - The source code is available on GitHub for similar projects and we can crib off of that. I'm not a programmer and even I know what GitHub is (as well as Hacker News, ProgrammableWeb, etc.), so as my potential DREAM programmer, I hope you at least lurk on these and other sites.

(3) Custom WordPress Plugin - This may be the secret sauce to getting a jump start: I already have some (say 80% - 90%) of the coding done for a WordPress plugin using one of the APIs. This combined with the GitHubs and the clear reference brings the complexity of this job down a lot.

(4) WordPress Themes/Plugins - If we can spend $50 on a theme/plugin/whatever to speed up development, let's do that. No need to own a Pinto when we can rent a Porsche, right? ;) You should be familiar with ThemeForest, commercial WordPress themes (WooThemes, Genesis, Etc.), WPMUDEV, and the numerous other sites out there that we can tap for resources.

In closing, if you have a familiarity or interest with any of the above, let's talk. In your cover letter, discuss your experiences and talents as they relates to the four areas mentioned above. Bonus points if you can squeeze in and finish the code phrase "I AM THE CHUCK NORRIS OF..." in your response. That way, I know you aren't a bot and are ready to kick some code's ass.
