Project Description

Need to migrate active PHPNuke/phpbb website to Joomla.

Website has 4 components -

1. PHPNuke Forum/CMS with active topics/stories

2. OScommerce shopping cart

3. Custom membership subscription service (not time based).

4. Email archive service.

The first three parts are glued together with some awful PHP spaghetti right now, and the upgrade to Nuke 7.6 wasn’t as wonderful as we’d hoped.

It needs a fresh start. We need the old data.

1 & 2 can be straight ports.

3 needs to be custom code, preferably as a module - I can provide more details or a real spec if required.

4 requires a call to a list server to save copies of emails for a particular list.

Require to have single login to hook forums, cms, commerce and (optional) subscription service. Will need to have ability to “buy” membership and have subscription updated. Members have access to additional non-public parts of the site.

Additionally, anything that is done to glue the seperate portions together must be self contained - we need to be able to upgrade to later versions of Joomla without a massive rewrite. I’m happy changing a few tens of lines of well defined PHP code in a few scripts, but 100’s (or as the site is now (1000’s) of lines in many tens of scripts is just too many to keep track of.

Finlly we need a module to allow administrative control (and limited user editing) of the subscription service - alter membership details, send mass emails, the usual stuff. The difference is that our membership model is hardcopy based (by # of issues), not time based - a member buys a (say) 5 issues rather than joining for a year. We need to be able to track and edit this, as well as a members personal info.

Website has about 4000 users, 1000 members.

Currently the db zips down to about 16M.

More detailed info can be provided if required.
