We wish to provide a web based SMS messaging solution to our clients and want to develop an application to offer the service to our clients.

The solution should have functionality as outlined below.

We expect to use the Clickatell API gateway to power the application - but we are open to other suggestions. The system should hvae functionality similar to Clickatell Communicator2.

Outline of functionality:

Contacts Management

Add contacts

i. First name, last name, title, custom fields


i. Create and edit

ii. Assign contacts to multiple groups


i. Import CSV of contacts

ii. Import CSV can allow assigning of contact to groups

Acct Management

Sender ID

i. Created manually in Clickatel

Account Setup

i. Created manually in Clickatel

ii. Clients will be setup with their own credit eg: not pulling from our main master stock of credits.

iii. Contact details


i. Display remaining SMS in real-time based on % value of each credit. Eg: for sending to Irish mobiles, each Clickatel Credit is worth 0.8 of an SMS eg: 100 credits = 125 SMS


i. The site will need some sort of admin section to setup the usernames and passwords

Message Management


i. Send SMS to group(s)

ii. Send to selected contacts in groups

iii. Send to mobile nos

iv. Delayed Delivery eg: Days, hours, mins

v. Message concatenation eg: sending more than 160 chars at a time

2-way messaging


i. SMS recipients can reply to messages

1. Replies are delivered to an Inbox

2. Option to forward to a 3rd party email address
