vBulletin request - Calendar, new event and reminder notification System

I am looking to extend features currently built into vBulletin to essentailly push information to users instead of forcing the users to pull information our of vBulletin. It goes without saying that you must be an expert on vBulletin and be familiar with the hook system they have in place. ----------------------------------- Introduction I have two calendars (North and South) and four home regions (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Group 4.) The home region is defined by a parameter at time of registration. For calendar usage, there are two home regions per calendar. This solution will preferably be built as a vB 3.5 product to minimize disruption to the vBulletin product source code. Summary of problem Participation is down becasue the members are not being made aware of currently scheduled calendar events. Proposed Solution What I am looking for is the following: 1. When a member posts an event to the calendar, this event is then sent to all members based on a parameter in their registration profile. (geographic location) (what is currently built in to the product is only a designated email address receives this info (admin, etc.) 1a. In the user control panel, there should be an option to choose whether or not to receive new calendar postings by email. Default is 'yes' 2. When a calendar event is posted, automatic reminders will go out to those 'subscribed' to calendar reminders from one to five days prior to the event. This event reminder is then sent to all members based on a parameter in their registration profile. (geographic location). Currently built in to the product is the ability for members to request a reminder manually for each scheudled calendar event. This requires a visit to the actual calendar and forces them to click on the calendar event, and then to request the appropriate reminder. * There are three types of events that can be posted: a. ranged event (over a particular time period, i.e. 1pm-4pm) b. recurring event - an event scheduled once per week, per month, etc - over a ranged time period c. All day event - no time specified, typically an 'all day' event. - Calendar reminders should go out for each of the above three types of events. ** Note: for recurring events, reminders should be sent each time the event reoccurs. 2D. In the user control panel, below the option specified in #1, there should be an option to choose whether or not to receive reminders by email Default is 'yes' and set to 'three' days. Available options should be 1,2,3,4,or 5 days.
