implement a secure web application. The client-side should be written in HTML and the server-side in Perl. Your CGI code should use the DBI module to talk to a MySQL database. Your application must run on an ordinary lab machine and can only make use of Perl modules installed on those machines. The design of the application and the contents of the database are up to you but, obviously, your aim should be to create an application which showcases your programming skills and your understanding of the issues involved in building a secure web application. Think "defence-in-depth".

You are required to deliver the following in text files (include at the top of each file the names and student ID numbers its authors):

* All of your well-commented and neatly formatted Perl source code files

* A description of your application, in HTML format, called assignment2.html. Comprising a table of contents, an introduction, some sections and a conclusion, the latter document should contain at least the following:

o An overview of the application (including a link to it and any necessary usernames and passwords)

o An outline of a typical user session

o A description of the threats to which an insecure version of an application such as yours might be vulnerable

o A description of the built-in defensive strategies that thwart those threats and source code excerpts to back up your claims

o Where any desirable defensive strategies could not be incorporated, a description of them and the benefits they would have brought
