We require a script that can be run by the Cron daemon at a set interval to check a specified folder for a file, transmit the file to a specified location via FTP, archive the file, and log the transaction. The script can be in Bash or PERL. The script will be used multiple times on different folders with different FTP destinations, so we prefer a solution that employs generic function that accepts multiple variables, such as the source folder, filename root, destination folder, ftp host, user, password, ftp destination folder, and archive folder. If the function encounters an error, it must log all variables and the nature of the error (i.e. folder not found, FTP – connection failed, etc.). The function must also email the error information to a specified address.
We run a Bash shell on CentOS 5 with VSFTP. The script must be compatible with this system.
We will provide more detailed project specifications to well-qualified bidders.
