Project Description

I need the help of someone who knows how to code scripts for Batch work in Photoshop.

I need to remove the white background of lots of JPG images and save them as Transparent png's.

Fortunately the JPG's still have the path - a line around the edge of the object in the image which was used to remove anything in the background and make it white. Unfortunately the Names of the Paths are not the same from file to file, for example: In the file [url removed, login to view] the path may be called Path 1, but in [url removed, login to view] the path may be called Path A.

I created a set of actions to remove the white background from the image and save it as a transparent png. One of these actions creates a selection using the path.

I can use the Automate>Batch in photoshop to run the script on hundreds of images. But when the process reaches an image with a path name different to the path name in the script. I get an error and the Batch Process stops.

I need someone to help me fix this. There are two possible solutions:

Modify the script, or create a new script that:

1. Will look for a path with a certain name (which I can somehow define, edit and add new names when needed), if it does not find the path with that name, it looks for a path with a different name. Lets say there are 20 possible different path names:

2. Or have it work in a way so that the path 'names' are not important, it just selects whatever path there is and uses it.

ANOTHER POSSIBILITY (using a bit of computer-science maybe)

As the JPG's have paths with different names, another solution (not perfect but I would be just as happy) would be to group the JPG's into folders based on their path names. So to be able to put them into folders called "JPG's with Path 1" or "JPG's with Path 2" for example. The I could run my existing script without it running into an error. I have done a bit of research on this and I have been unable to find a way of viewing the path names inside JPG's without first opening them in photoshop. But somewhere in the 1's and 0's that make up the file, there is a value which defines the name of that path.

I may also need some help with the basics of the script, as sometimes the batch process didn't save the PNG's with a transparent background. If this still happens I will also need your help fixing that.
