We are working on a new technical product line and require some work done on designing plastic casing parts. This plastic casing design will need to be sent to a plastic injection mold manufacturer to be able to create the plastic injection mold designs.
Throughout the design process it must be kept in mind, the cost and complexity of the plastic injection moulding process. It is not necessary to design the actual plastic injection mold though. Only the 3D design of the actual parts must be created with all necessary documents to pass on to the mold manufacturer.
The overall project is to be separated into 3 sub projects and each sub project will have two sections. This is because there are a total of 6 parts that must be designed and the two parts make up a casing. Therefore there are 3 pairs of casing parts and each pair will have a separate project. We would like one individual to take on all four projects but depending on time scale we may except more than one person to speed up the process.
To give a basic idea of the parts;
Sub Project One (This project)****************
There are two separate parts that must be designed in this project. They are similar but not the same. The two parts go together to make one complete shell. This shell is to be connected onto an L shaped metal plate via screws through the sides. Inside the casing will be motors, pulleys, belts and electronics. The design will have mounting pillars for a PCB and pillars on both parts to allow them to be screwed together. One major factor in this project is cost (more so than in other projects). Cost consideration must taken into account at all times during the project and any potential savings in cost through design will need to be communicated to us.
I have done a very quick model of the parts in sketch up for your reference but we will provide much more detailed specs when the project is underway. Please find the model in sketch up format below.
