You may choose a project from your work such as the introduction of a change management program, the installation of a new computer system, the redesign of a bank branch, the introduction of a new product etc. Alternatively, you may choose a personal project, such as the renovation of your house, planning a wedding etc.
The project could be either based on:
a. a future project in which case you report should provide:
o the project scope (work breakdown structure);
o the project plan (network diagram, Gantt-chart);
o budgeting information;
o risk analysis and recommend risk management strategy;
o a discussion of communication issues, leadership, teamwork and stakeholder analysis.
b. or a completed project in which case you should focus on post-mortem analysis and analyse what aspects of the project have gone wrong, what went well, and make recommendations for future similar projects. Your report should:
o examine project scope (look at or develop a work breakdown structure);
o reconstruct project plan (analyse or reconstruct the Project Master Plan);
o analyse / reconstruct budget and costs;
o examine resource allocations;
o review risk analysis and backup plans;
o examine variances in duration and costs;
o determine successes and failures;
o discuss issues related to communication, leadership, teamwork and stakeholders.
