Lomonosov Moscow State University's Faculty of Psychology and the Russian Psychological Society search an editor of the english translations of scientific psychological articles, originally written in Russian. The job requires to proofread the translations, and adapt them to be accessible to an english reader, reconstructing sentences where needed, and marking the passages that confuse and generally are not written in an english scientific style for them to re-translated by us.
Candidates are required to have a background in psychology to be able to understand and distinguish psychological terms, and have an experience in writing/editing scientific articles in psychology.
Native speakers of the English language are preferred, knowledge of the Russian language is not obligatory. The important quality is to be able to understand the translated scientific text, bring and style it into form common to an english reader.
If successful, the partnership will be long term one.
A sample translation is attached for candidates to try themselves. If a candidate decides that his or her skills in understanding the terminology, the structure and the original idea of the author are sufficient to propose own edited version of the first two pages (or any other two pages, if a candidate decides to choose a more challenging part), such is required to apply for the job.
In order not to confuse with the budget estimate, we should note that this is a long term partnership, therefore the payment is based on the volume of edited texts. The payment per page is a subject of negotiation.
