Attended meeting on 6/11/13: Raji K. Phagura, Myrna Granados, Angela Hill, Mayra Preciado
Absent: Amy Daeumler
As we met for the first time today 6/11/13, we have determined that we need to define the main issue that we are having with placement at the Woodland Campus.
As a suggestion, Angela mentioned why not starting opening doors for our students by expanding externships sites that can possibly hire right after finishing the hours needed, and network outside not just a certain perimeter that has already been built. Also, there is a great opportunity to open doors for students with extern sites at the Woodland Health Care but that contract has not yet been finalized. Myrna previously worked at WHC and will be touching bases with Julie to figure out why this is taking so long. If we can get this contract then that is one step closer for our students to be part of that team once graduated.
When contacting these sites to verify if they participate with externs asked them to be part of the advisory board committee.
Another way to have eyes on any job openings or being more aware of if, NETWORK!! We can do so with the different Health care facilities, Doctors’ offices, and city event. All can be done via Facebook, going to their main page and liking it. You will then stay updated and know what event s are coming up.
Angela and Mayra will work on a cork board located right outside Career Placement Office that will start off with providing different information for the students on what is needed to participate in Woodland Health Care, Sutter, and UDC facilities. Also we will have information for externs to fill out and the CAP form. This information will be given by Amy.Get free quotes for a project like this
