Fixing bugs in the GnoMenu start menu program

Zorin OS currently uses a slightly modified version of the GnoMenu start menu software (modified in order to be compatible with the Gnome 3 menu structure, as the original version is tailored towards Gnome 2 environments), which is freely available in the Zorin OS 6 Core and Educational distributions. Although the menu does work, there are 3 major bugs with it at the moment:
1. The search feature in the start menu does not work properly sometimes. If you type a search query to look for a program, it will display all of the results most of the time; but at other times, some (if not all) of the results may be missing. Example of only some results showing up: [url removed, login to view] (YouTube video courtesy of vegasvirgo7)
2. If you install a new program or perform a software update, sometimes multiple menu entries may disappear when browsing the menu.
3. If you repeatedly left click on the start menu button, GnoMenu will freeze. Therefore you are unable to open the menu. However, the user can right click on the start menu, select Preferences, click OK, click Yes to restart, click on where the start menu button was (a sad face should be present now) – and you have the menu working again, but this option is not ideal. Example: [url removed, login to view] (YouTube video courtesy of vegasvirgo7)
We believe that it would be most effective if someone could re-write the Menu View widget (the white box with the installed programs listed in it) of GnoMenu so that it would work better. However, you are welcome to offer another solution(s) that would fix the above bugs. We would be very grateful if anyone could help us to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Developer note 1: We would highly recommend you to use Zorin OS 6 Core for the development/debugging work as it uses the modified version of GnoMenu tailored for Gnome 3 environments. It is available at [url removed, login to view]
Developer note 2: GnoMenu's program files are located in the following directories: /usr/lib/gnomenu, /usr/share/gnomenu (themes), /usr/share/avant-window-navigator/applets/GnoMenu, /usr/bin/[url removed, login to view], /usr/lib/bonobo/[url removed, login to view]Get free quotes for a project like this
