For a new product based on the Telit GL865 platform, we need a python script that can either determine the approximate location of the unit based on cell tower id's and signal strength (triangulation). Or the unit should simply collect the cell tower ID and signal strength, and pass it on to our servers.
Our product GSM module run in a deep sleep mode, and is only awake when an outside alarm triggers it. Once triggered, it will wake up, connect to GPRS network and deliver it's status report with the data collected while in deep sleep. We would like to be able to determine the location of the product based on information in the status report. The calculation of the location can take place at our servers once cell tower information is collected.
