I need to have a CAD model designed so that I can sent it to a manufacturer.
I have a 3kg rectangular heat sink (200mm x 300mm) that I want to be able to attach a set of brackets to. The brackets need to be expandable from 13in to 20in and at full extension need to be able to support the 3kg weight of the heat sink.
In designing the brackets please be sure to incorporate the following:
1). Bracket is expandable from 13" to 20"
2). Once extended there needs to be a method to lock the length in place so that it can't close
3). The bracket need to be able to attach to the heat sink using 4mm screws 34mm apart.
4). The heat sink needs to be able to move along the length of the bracket and then "locked" into place
5). At the bracket ends there needs to be "L"s so that if there is not a lip to support the bracket, it can be screwed or riveted into place.
I was thinking the adjustable brackets could function something like this:

I have attached a picture of a "fixed" bracket that I used. The white U channel material in the picture is what I want the adjustable bracket to replace.
