Project Description

We are looking for a programmer to implement minor edits / functionality additions to an existing Ruby on Rails website project. Upon successful completion of this project, you will have priority to be selected for future stages of the project when the site is further developed. The website functionality includes user-generated content, a blog, search functionality, and a back-end for website management; it is built using Ruby On Rails, the code is shared in GitHub, and the site is hosted on EngineYard.

The required edits / functionality additions are as follows:
1) RSS feed / Email subscription - add RSS feed & email subscription (MailChimp) options for blog article updates on the website's main page. Also change location of Facebook and Twitter icons on the page

2) Social media 'Sharing' and Facebook / Twitter posting - add ability to share blog articles & reviews across social media, as well as separate icons to post blog articles & reviews to own Facebook and Twitter activity streams

3) Fix broken link - remove broken link when a specific icon on review tabs are clicked on --> redirect to a different link instead

4) Spam management - add ability for spam users and associated user-generated content /comments to be removed in the admin back-end (for spam on the website to be managed)

5) Notifications of comments / posts - add email notification when someone 'follows' a user, when someone comments on user's reviews, when someone replies to user's comments, when someone comments on blog articles (to admin) --> simple email template

6) Provide instructions on how to update the Sphinx config code when very minor edits are made to the website's code (link to the database is sometimes broken and requires Sphinx config code to be updated)

Please provide the following details in your bid:
1) Estimate of the number of hours required for the project, your available start date, and time to completion
2) Provide your best quote for the project and confirm that you are willing to work on a fixed price basis
3) A brief description of your experience in these types of projects, and testimonials / portfolio for these types of projects

If you are shortlisted, a detailed mock-up of the changes to be made will be provided, and the final quote confirmed before a final selection is made
