Project Description

I need someone who is focused on these technologies

Ruby + Rails + jQuery/Prototype

and not doing 5-6 different technologies and languages.

So if you have a mix of everything in your portfolio of

you will most likely be rejected outright.

You should be comfortable working in Linux shell and

know how to use Git

You should be up to date with best practices and trends,

HTML5 etc... you should also be not just an algorithmic

solver, but think about user experience, usability

when you get things done

I need someone who can provide realistic estimates.

Eg. to have a date field loaded into a date picker vice-versa,

validate it and store it into a database, how much time that

would take you? If you do not provide this in your application

you will be rejected.

You must be honest (I had guys applying

with fake profile pictures, really?!) hard working and have free time

on your hands because this is a large project and demanding,

please do not apply if you have other long term things on your plate,

have another full time job, do not apply please.

Im very technical myself worked as a programmer for many years,

so its easy to work with me, at the same time its not easy to fool

me about the quality/experience/value...

I need a good communicator, I need somebody how can provide

short but effective summaries and available for quick questions

once or twice a day through chat.

Im fed up with managers and incompetent companies who try to

cover up for mistakes and explain inefficiency.

+ experience with Rails 2.3.8

+ HAML templating and SASS style generation

+ High respect for standards eg. W3C produce valid, error free readable code

+ experience with troubleshooting cross-browser compatibilities

Pick one of your favirote gems among these:

activerecord, eventmachine, fastthread, ancestry, bundler, haml, passenger, sass, pg, starling, memcache, ffi, httpparty, whenever, simple-navigation

explain what it does, how does it make your life easier, why is it better than

alternative solutions?

What is your choice of automated test framework, why?

what is the expected type of the below, what type does it return?

does it always return that type? if yes why, if not why?

def empty?(s)

return [url removed, login to view] == 0

if you do not answer my questions and you just reply, yes I read everything

and here are my references, Im great, you will be rejected. So make sure

you answer my questions, that's how I test that you really read and understood what I wrote.

Provide ONE reference only. It should be something which has valid HTML/CSS code. It should be a direct page to something which has some code logic, exception handling or some other complexity like parsing uploaded file etc, something you are proud of....

Remember only ONE reference, so choose carefully

If you fail to follow this instruction again I will assume you did not read what I wrote or you did not understand.

Good luck!
