I am looking for someone to help set up a database for my small company. We currently operate with paper files as well as excel, quickbooks, and google calendar/maps. There are several companies that do this for a monthly fee, but it is simply cost prohibitive, and frankly I feel that I should be able to find someone on Freelancer that can do the job just as well, possibly using vTiger. Similar programs are servicemax, utility cloud, and fieldaware.
I want my field staff to be able to pick up their tablet in the morning, turn it on and see their schedule. When they touch one of the appointments, a google map pops up telling them where they currently are and where this site is. When they get to the site they need to be able to complete an inspection report (the form needs to be adjustable). When the report is done it is stored in the database and cues an office staff to review the report. The office staff should be able to see where the field staff is at all times via the tablet. I should also have a billing portal (prefereably with quickbooks) that is linked with each site as well. etc....
There MUST be some software configurations out there that do this using some opensource software. Think of all the HVAC, plumbing, septic, etc. type service companies out there. I guess they could all be using the proprietary software listed above, but it doubt it. A friend suggested that vtiger would be the way to go, but I am open to suggestions.
