Project Description

We are working on the creation of a computer that harnesses the new VFIO capability which allows KVM virtualization to dedicate a superior graphics card to a Windows Virtual Machine environment. By connecting the Windows VM to the card directly, instead of using a VM driver, Windows can now use DirectX for purposes of gaming and other 3D applications.

This is an important milestone in VM's and we'd like to see it through. Our hope is to get a test model operating properly. If it works, we can then create a salable machine around this premise.

We gave already upgraded the kernel to [url removed, login to view] as suggested in this post. [url removed, login to view]

This job is not for newbies. Please provide some information to me that would make me believe this is something you are somewhat familiar with.

Also, it is VERY IMPORTANT that whatever you do to resolve this is COMPLETELY DOCUMENTED. Anything you type we must be able to reproduce on a separate testing machine. So if you install packages, edit device information, pci-add devices, blacklist devices or anything else you do must be carefully documented.

I have also attached the Question and Answer from [url removed, login to view] so you could see how this project came to be and what solutions have been attempted that led up to the most recent [url removed, login to view] kernel installation.

Thank you.
