Project Description

I am looking for software that will track and log the time people spend using certain programs. It also has to be able to log the file that was open at the time. Every minute it will log what program was used, the windows user name, and what file was open in that program. In order for a program to be considered "used" the mouse and or keyboard had to have been activated within that minute. So if you leave a program running while you go out to lunch it will not log any time. If a program was used at all within that minute then it will be 1 minute of use. If you quickly use 3 different programs within that minute then all three programs will get a minute of use logged to them.

Here are the programs I would like to log:

"Nuke" by the foundry [url removed, login to view]

3ds max by autodesk [url removed, login to view]

photoshop by adobe [url removed, login to view]

Mocha Pro [url removed, login to view]

After effects by adobe. [url removed, login to view]

every 20 minutes I would like the application to save small txt files to a dir that say what programs were used, what file was open, what user was logged in and how long the application was used. A sample text file will look like this:

{'localtimeNumber': [url removed, login to view],'program':'[url removed, login to view]', 'user': 'mledoux', 'secondsUsed': 300.0, 'file': 'z:/Zen/Shots/075/030/Projects/Nuke/[url removed, login to view]'}

localtimeNumber: is the time the txt file was saved

program: is the program that was used.

user: is the windows user name

secondsUsed: is how many seconds of use were logged

file: is the file that was open

This program should be very easy to install (remote install would be best) and it should use up very little resources. Thanks!
