I have a Mac Mini ([url removed, login to view], 4 RAM) with OS X Snow Leopard Server that I want to use it for the following tasks:
- DNS server
- Web server (PHP, MySQL)
- NAS for my local network
- VPN to be able to access the files remotely
This Mac Mini is behind an Actiontek PK5000 modem/router, and has a block of 8 static IP's available to it, and the modem/router is acting as the DHCP and NAT for the network, but otherwise has the Mac in a DMZ zone. The modem may need to be configured better but I will have to take your advice on that.
I have a website being hosted externally right now and am trying to build my new site on this server, and when completed I will point my domain to this server to host the new website, but as for now, the website only has a fixed IP range and no domain. I I need to buy a domain to make this work in the meantime, please let me know and I can do that.
The person who will help me will do this by Screen Sharing option (or I'm open to other suggestions) and it shouldn't take more than a few hours.
I have tried to configure this myself, and may have caused more damage then it is worth, so If I need to have a clean install, please tell me what you would prefer.
Please ask as many questions as you feel the need to to get a better understanding of this project.
